. . . as well as winning the title of State Long Jump Champion in his Junior year. He was also selected to the KIF Baseball All-Star team in 1992. During his senior year he was selected to the Nissan Hall of Honor, which recognizes his contributions to athletic, academic, and community service accomplishments. While doing all of his sports, Taylor was still able to earn the coveted Eagle Scout Rank, which then was earned by only 2% of all who joined the Boy Scouts of America.
Upon graduating high school, Taylor attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1999. He was fortunate to work in his field of study for businesses involved with banking and finance with institutions such as Central Pacific HomeLoans, First Hawaiian Bank, Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union, Gather Federal Credit Union and Hawaii USA Federal Credit Union. At 51 years old, Taylor has dedicated over 25+ years, more than half his life to working in the banking industry.
His other accomplishments involve his keen interest in body building. He entered his first competition at the Paradise Cup in 2013, winning first place in the Novice Division and the competition’s Overall Best Poser.
In 2018, he accomplished a first in the history of the Stingrey Classic by winning 3 Overall titles in different categories. In 2019, he exceeded his dream goal of earning an International Federation of Body Building (IFBB) Professional Card by winning 4 IFBB Pro cards in 4 separate categories making national history as the first to win a total of 4 IFBB Pro cards. He takes much pride in being the first and only IFBB Professional Bodybuilder on the Garden Isle.
Having settled down after his competition, he was involved with the Kauai United Way as a Board of Director, co-chairing this non-profit’s golf tournament. With the golf committee’s involvement, they raised the most proceeds in the history of the golf tournament for two consecutive years. He was also recognized in 2024 as a KUW Founder’s Award recipient.
His passion is now golfing.
He currently lives in Lihue with his wife whom he calls his “true” Filipina Queen, Karen Iloreta-Reyes Shigemoto.
